The United States had once lived under the ruling of the British. However, through the Revolutionary War, America won their right to rule their country without interference. With the promise of freedom, the elite of America met to form a Constitution.

The main goal of the Constitution was to appease the fear of the American people who feared that if a small group received too much power, their country would, once again, wind up under the control of a dictator or tyrant (like King George!).

To prevent dictatorship or tyranny, the group divided the new government into three parts, or branches: the executive branch, the legislative branch, and the judicial branch.
